From the basement to the attic – we address water damage everywhere
Many water damage cleanup companies will miss critical elements of effective drying. Buildings are like sponges, so just because there isn’t visible water doesn’t mean the building is dry. Also, attic and basement water damage can be considerably tricky to handle because of hidden moisture and conditions that are ripe for speedy mold growth. Any sewage damage that might be associated with the flooding can contain dangerous microorganisms that pose a serious danger to your health. Because of that, it’s important to use a water damage company that are experts at delivering all aspects of water damage restoration.
When Dry Patrol arrives at your home or business, we’re officially on alert for all flooding damage problems, whether caused by leaky, broken, or frozen pipes, malfunctioning washing machines, refrigerators, water heaters or dishwashers, or sink and toilet overflows. Our flood damage technicians look beyond the surface level and measure moisture at the stud, insulation, and sill plate level. We then create a moisture map of the afflicted area and monitor moisture content, temperatures, and relative humidity levels on a day-to-day basis. This thoroughness and commitment to drying your home is one of the unique advantages of working with Dry Patrol of Green. Dry Patrol also has the expertise and equipment to take care of all sewage cleanup and removal safely and quickly.
The water damage repair process can begin once structural drying is completed and all damaged walls, ceilings, carpet and hardwood floors can be cleaned and repaired or replaced.
Water Damage from Frozen and Burst Pipes
Of all the disasters that can happen in your home, there is nothing worse and more difficult to deal with than a frozen pipe that has burst. Over a quarter of a million American homes each year will suffer from damage due to frozen or burst pipes. This typically happens while you are away on a winter vacation or have generally not had running water through a faucet during peak cold times. When pipes freeze in sub-zero weather and then thaw out as temperatures rise, frozen pipes tend to crack and burst, which causes water leaks and flooding.
Dropping winter temperatures can cause extensive water damage as pipes begin to freeze and burst, causing damage to walls, ceilings, floors, carpets, furniture, and other possessions. Even a small crack in your water pipe can leak enough water to flood your home. In fact, in just one day, 250 gallons of water can be released from a pipe crack as small as 1/8 inch. So, it is imperative to be proactive and take action to protect your home.
Keep in mind that homeowners’ insurance companies are more willing to pay your water damage claim if you can show that you have done your due diligence and maintained your property in a reasonable manner. Long-term strategies for water damage prevention involve regular maintenance year round. Pipes that are exposed to cold outdoor air are more likely to freeze and burst. Exterior wall water pipes, as well as attic pipes, basement or crawlspace pipes and garage pipes, are more liable to freeze and burst. If any of this has happened to you, the best solution for frozen pipe burst clean up is to hire an experienced and trusted water damage company like Dry Patrol.
Basement Water Damage and Flooding
A home is only as strong as its foundation. Basement water damage is exceptionally common in the area since most basements will experience broken pipes, improper grading, leaky windows, failed sump pumps, seepage, or leaking foundation walls. If your house has experienced water damage to the foundation or basement flooding, it’s important to repair these areas as quickly as possible to avoid larger structural and property damage issues, which can end up costing much more if they are ignored or delayed.
The first 48 hours are considered the most important time period to react, as it is crucial to prevent further damage to the flooded basement and the items within, as well as preventing a widespread mold problem. The first thing you’ll need to do if you think you have water damage has a thorough assessment conducted by one of our professional to determine the next steps in the water damage repair and cleanup process.
